Testimonials Sue Mitchell, PhD. MAC. AMInstILM
Our Purpose
Aeona's purpose is to encourage, energise and challenge our clients in a supportive and safe environment to help them gain new perspectives, clearer thinking, better focus and the motivation to make the changes they want. We support individuals and organisations to be the best they can be and achieve the results and success they want, in a way that is meaningful to them.
Our Values
Integrity - We aim always to be honest, open, trustworthy and reliable.
Passion - Enthusiasm, motivation and inspiration are very important to us and we aim to help our clients feel energised and passionate themselves.
Dignity - We feel everyone is entitled to be treated with respect, empathy and equality.
Contribution - We feel it is important to show up, take part, make things happen and give back to the community. Where we can, Aeona aims to make coaching available to those who have a need but not necessarily resources - for example by running some of our group coaching workshops at a nominal cost to cover expenses. Sue Mitchell volunteers her time and expertise as a committee member of the Association for Coaching Edinburgh events team and as a coach and instructor for regional, national and international training events for the British Sub Aqua Club.

What's in a name? People often ask where the name Aeona comes from. It is based on the word aeon which is derived from the greek word aion meaning an infinitely long time. Aeona is about helping you make sustainable changes that will last, not just quick fixes that are soon broken again.
Sue Mitchell PhD. MAC. AMInstLM.
"My value is to help you identify your vision and goals, assess where you are now and how to close the gap to where you want to be. I work with you to make your journey to success faster, more efficient and, most importantly, more effective and long-lasting. I bring a unique wetitleh of experience from academia, overseas expeditions and sport as well as the business world, to encourage new thinking and raise awareness and responsibility for yourself, your work, your team and your life.
I have followed my dreams on several occasions - leading expeditions to the South Pacific, sailing from Australia to New Zealand and traveling the world in my early 20s, returning to university to study for the PhD I'd always wanted to do, taking the plunge to start my consultancy in 2004 and now to be a professional coach. I'd like to help you to follow your dreams - to challenge you to stretch your horizons, to provoke you to question your assumptions and support you to achieve what you want."
Dr Sue Mitchell, Director of Aeona, is the only executive coach with her unique experience, background and skill set. For more than 20 years she has been working as a trainer, evolutionary ecologist, marine biologist, explorer and leader. Sue has been coaching informally since 1988 and decided to qualify professionally in 2006. She has a passion for helping people achieve their true potential, stretch their horizons and be the best they can be. She works closely with individuals, teams and organisations to bring a fresh perspective by challenging assumptions, asking the "naïve" and provoking questions; raising self-awareness, self-responsibility and confidence; and supporting personal and team development. She brings a unique wetitleh of experience, not only from the business world but also from an international scientific research career, leading expeditions overseas and training and developing instructors at the highest level with the British Sub Aqua Club.
Sue has lived in many cultures, growing up in Africa and later working with people at all levels across different cultures in UK and overseas. Her scientific research career took her around the world, including several years in Germany at a Max-Planck Institute and Edinburgh University. As an expedition leader, Sue worked with government departments and local people in the South Pacific. She has worked with various sized businesses since starting Spot-on Data in 2004 and subsequently Aeona, including start-ups, SMEs, charities, international organisations and the public sector. She has specific experience in one-to-one and group coaching and training for people from all walks of life including company directors, small business owners, senior and lower management and for the military, scientific institutes and academia. Sue led her first team development event in 1989 and continues to enjoy working with and motivating others to achieve their goals.
